After Devil's Freedom (2017), world-renowned Mexican filmmaker Everardo González once again takes us inside the chilling world of organized violence. This time, our entry point is Ernesto, an amalgam of various teenage boys. Eager to taste the feeling of power and wealth, these youngsters choose to obtain a gun with which to kill others, so joining the chain of organized crime in which teenagers, as both victims and perpetrators, are the most fragile link. What makes a teenage boy fall in with a community of deadly violence? A Wolfpack Called Ernesto is a fascinating voyage into a multiplicity of heart-rending stories of gang life in which brutality is exchanged for "superiority" and "respect." In this remarkable and immensely troubling film, González uses an original device to attach the camera to participants? backs to follow them in their daily lives, guided by their anonymous collective voice, which evokes a surprisingly intimate tone.
