From the director of A Proposal to project in Scope (Austrian Competition 2020), this is one of the year’s most ravishingly beautiful films of any length. Shooting from a twentieth-floor New York apartment over seven months, Schmid used “a special technique of color separation,” passing film through her camera three times with a different filter each time (red, green, blue). The result yields a kind of 3D effect sans glasses, presenting fresh perspectives on much-filmed Manhattan.
