Philosophers and therapists who claim that modern man lacks the courage to confront death have clearly not met Halina and Andrzej. For the characters of Handful of Dirt, living in a village in Podlasie, deaths and funerals are an integral part of everyday life. It cannot be otherwise – while she is a funeral singer, he works as a gravedigger. Director Izabela Zubrycka observes the lives of these characters with poetic sensitivity and discretion, but also with admiration for people who fearlessly explore the taboo sphere.
