In Holbox: Sharks and the People of the Sea, the fishers' narratives immerse the public in the historic shark fishery. They also expose how the island has developed to become a site for world tourism interested in swimming with the whale sharks. In this story, the fishermen also consider becoming aware of the consequences of overfishing and recap on the need to consider other sources of income besides fishing, given the increasing scarcity of large fish in the sea.
