剧情梗概：
本剧的导演袁祥仁是香港著名的"和平电影公司"的台柱子，他作为武术导演，指导过的电影《新龙门客栈》以及电视剧《水浒》、《太极宗师》等都在国内产生很大的影响。这次由他的"袁家班"来指导古装武打剧《南少林》，他独特的设计和精彩的绝活，势必回赢得广大观众欣赏和喜欢。雍正年间，闽粤地区形势动荡，"天鹰帮"敛巨资广纳武林人士，为朝廷一大腹患。南少林也被吸纳其中。雍正决定派他最得意的两位皇子--三阿哥弘时、四阿哥弘历，一文一武、一明一暗兵分两路赶赴南少林，查办天鹰帮一事。雍正命两位皇阿哥出马，意在考察此二人谁可担当国家大任，继承帝业。而两位皇子更是机敏过人，深明雍正之用意。二人为取悦龙颜，呈功于雍正，便使出浑身解数查办天鹰帮与南少林。在此过程中，心狠手辣的弘时视弘历为眼中钉，多次派人暗下毒手，索取弘历性命，以除心头之患。侠肝义胆的南少林俗家弟子方世玉出手相助，帮弘历逃过一次次劫难和迫害。二人遂结为好友。而弘时在泉州暗中网罗闽浙总督张信德与其手下，结党营私。他以查办天鹰帮为名，大开杀戒，铲除异己。南少林的玄通方丈被其所迫害致死。弘时从此将自己送上不归路。方世玉也从此视弘时为不共戴天死敌。弘历在查办天鹰帮的过程中，因有方世玉、洪熙官、侠盗赵大宏、江湖老千卓灵仗义相助，得以化解重重阻难，并渐渐查明弘时和张信德相互勾结的种种阴谋诡计。弘历也发现方世玉之父方德只是天地会手中的一颗棋子，而天地会因作为天地会名誉堂主之一的方德已无利用价值就对其下毒手，此时方世玉为救其父，冒着九死一生的危险杀出南少林之木人巷，从法场劫走方德。弘历被方世玉与方德之间真挚的父子之情而打动，网开一面，允许方德隐居荒岛，从此远离世事。同时李梦麟得知弘历乃当朝皇子的真实身份，陷入艰难的抉择之中。而弘历也得知他的心上人李梦麟就是天鹰帮的"特使"，亦使弘历陷入深深的痛苦之中。李梦麟天真的以为将父亲早先扣留的财物献于天地会能免于一死从而与弘历在一起，却被师傅认为是叛徒而灭口，她用自己得生命捍卫了她与弘历之间的这段真情，也将自己从痛苦中解脱出来。在"天鹰帮"之事水落石出之际，由于南少林难脱其咎。弘历决定火烧南少林，此时，方世玉誓言无论怎样都将与南少林生死与共。就这样，一对情同手足的兄弟，对峙于南少林山门之下……最后，方世玉和弘历联手粉碎了弘时和张信德勾结倭寇窃取南少林镇寺之宝的企图，并粉碎了敌人分裂祖国、破坏民族团结的阴谋。本剧是描写少林和尚方世玉从一个天真浪漫的少年成长为一个民族英雄的感人故事。表现了方世玉的聪敏机变，神勇无敌。歌颂了他爱憎分明，深明大义，为维护祖国统一、安定和平，前仆后继不怕牺牲的民族主义精神和爱国主义精神，也歌颂了他和卓灵、张小莹之间纯真美好的爱情。
