剧情梗概：
太上老君醉游东海，发现蓬莱仙岛，岛上有八块怪石，分别为葫芦，蒲扇，玉笛，宝剑，荷花，渔鼓，花篮，护板八种形状。老君即兴设下八个仙位，欲在人间挑选八人，成就蓬莱八仙美名。铁拐李率先成仙，成为八仙首领。他先后点化六人，最后看中了国舅曹景休。曹国舅不负众望，在赈灾求雨等一系列义举中表现出众，几乎成仙。不料，他们不经意间陷入了西域蛇精设下的圈套，与龙宫结怨闯下大祸。曹国舅身死，被罚九世轮回，经历贪，嗔，痴等种种考验，合格之后方能成仙。其他七仙在保护曹国舅轮回的同时，还发现了蛇精的阴谋。原来他在寻找女娲娘娘遗落在人间的五颗宝石，宝石凑在一起，有无上法力，足以威胁人间的安危。经历无数考验，曹国舅终于成仙，蓬莱八仙齐聚，夺回宝石剪除蛇精，还天下以太平，他们同时体会到为仙的真谛，成为名满天下的自在神仙。
