在Fox宣布复活《24》之后，NBC也动心了NBC宣布复活他们曾经的招牌剧集《超能英雄》（Heroes）。据称NBC将与原剧的（剽窃）创作人TimKring合作，续拍一部13集的有限剧集，做法和Fox的《24：活到另一天》（24:LiveAnotherDay）完全一致。该剧剧名暂定为《超能英雄：重生》（Heroes:Reborn）。制片人TimKring表示，该剧将主要围绕新角色展开剧情，讲述一个全新的故事，只是这个故事设定在《超能英雄》搭建的世界中。不过他也强调，新剧会让原版剧集中一些悬而未决的问题得到解决。由于原版剧集中的主要演员都已经有了新工作，因此将他们重新召集起来是不现实的，但是的确会有一些老面孔出现在剧中：NBC证实JackColeman将演出该剧，再次扮演他在原版剧集中的标志性角色HRG（全名NoahBennett）。他是第一位正式回归该剧的「原初演员」。在JackColeman之后，MasiOka（扮演时间旅行者HiroNakamura）亦宣布回归。AliLarter、MiloVentimiglia和HaydenPenettiere均公开表示自己不会回归（AliLarter称不排除「客串」的可能）。ZacharyQuinto也确认自己不会演出该剧，这意味着这部13集有限剧集的主要反派角色不再是能够吸收各种超能力的杀人恶魔Sylar，而是「另有其人」。其他「原初演员」（GregGrunberg、AdrianPasdar和SendhilRamamurthy）意向不明。新加盟的演员包括：FrancescaEastwood扮演一个善于操纵别人的年轻女人；PruittTaylorVince扮演一个看起来谦逊但很有说服力的男人；RyanGuzman、RobbieKay、DanikaYarosh、JudithShekoni、KikiSukezane、HenryZebrowski、GatlinGreen、EveHarlow和ToruUchikado扮演细节不详的新角色；来自《Chuck》的ZacharyLevi将联合主演，角色细节同样不详（有可能是反派角色）。此外，NBC宣布拍摄《超能英雄：重生》的伴生节目《超能英雄：重生网络剧》（HeroesReborn:DigitalSeries）。这个伴生节目将与每一集《超能英雄：重生》配套，并在每一集《超能英雄：重生》正式播出之前通过NBC旗下的各种网络媒体平台（包括Hulu）播出。据称这个网络剧为《超能英雄：重生》的「前传」。
