电影《Is My Living in Vain》的剧情简介：

Artist and filmmaker Ufuoma Essi brings her experience of having lived in both the United Kingdom and the United States to this meditation on the continuing history and freedom potential of the Black church. Weaving together archival imagery, oral testimony, and contemporary 16mm footage shot on location, Essi links church communities of West Philadelphia and South East London through the shared sonic and visual iconographies of Black spiritual communion. Voice, movement and gesture ground these respective scenes, foregrounding the parallels, contradictions and slippages between each locale, and the distinct diasporas for whom the church serves as both place of worship and arena of organizing. Drawing on Black spiritual sites as concurrent areas of political action and facilitators of intergenerational Black thought and experience, Is My Living in Vain offers a study of the Black Church as a space of diasporic belonging, affirmation and community organizing.
