　　本片根据流行小说作家唐纳德·高尼斯的同名小说改编而成，也正因为这样，整部影片都笼罩在浓厚的宗教文学色彩之下：金·大卫(DMX饰)是一个稍显固执，个性鲜明的罪犯，他返回家乡试图用自己的行动为过去的过错赎罪，但遗憾的是，迎接他的是从未改变的暴力和他自己的死亡。但他的最后时刻并不孤独，他认识了保罗(大卫·阿奎特饰)，虽然他和这个有远大抱负的记者仅仅呆在一起几分钟，但是他却影响了大卫的一生。
