　　1965年，西班牙北部。为促进当地经济发展，政府在马瑞恩贝小镇居民的要求下修建了迪巴里亚水坝，届时附近的城镇将被淹没于水底。两个顽皮的男孩提奥（Santiago Pasaglia 饰）和路易斯（Omar Muñoz 饰）偷偷进入隔离区，在一所诡异的房子里，他们发现一群奇怪之人正在进行着恐怖的仪式。提奥被杀，路易斯仓皇逃跑。随着小镇沉入水底，这件事也随之被人遗忘。
　　迪巴里亚水坝落成40周年庆典之际，青年安东尼奥（Damià Plensa 饰）在和女友苏珊娜（Pilar Soto 饰）以及克莱拉（Charlotte Salt 饰）游泳的时候遭遇不测，生不见人，死不见尸。随着警方大规模搜寻的展开，在湖底沉睡40年的小镇以及其被可以隐瞒的秘密开始慢慢复苏……
