剧情梗概：
1958年底，延边朝鲜族自治州某县老寒岭邮电所所长李志浩在送信途中殉职，留下怀胎七月的妻子金贞淑。老亲家金仁俊和崔顺子看到自己的次女受此劫难，将长女的女儿朴顺玉从海兰江畔的富裕地区送往山区，帮助李家度过难关。李志浩的父亲李昌善是位有着强烈英雄情绪的老人，常常鼓励子孙要像大山一样活着才有味道。他与亲家金仁俊性格摩擦，一个倔强豪爽，一个沉稳审慎，两人时常针锋相对，相互较劲，但都是不甘落后的朝鲜族男子汉，在山区和河谷川区创造了优异成绩。金贞淑是典型的朝鲜族优秀传统女性，孝顺、坚韧，甘于牺牲，她承担了家庭的重负，抚养老人、培养子女，为脱贫致富勤劳奉献。
