　　在电视播音员被视为权威的昔日年代里，朗•伯甘蒂（威尔•法瑞尔 Will Ferrell 饰）是屡屡获奖的圣迭戈王牌播音员，4频道在他的新闻小组的带领下笑傲同行，组内的三个怪家伙只有在朗的身边才能大展拳脚。工作之外，风流成性的朗自然也不会放弃利用知名度勾女，然而一个让他吃瘪的女郎维罗妮卡（克里斯蒂娜•艾伯盖特 Christina Applegate 饰）居然还是新闻部的新同事，众人先后对维罗妮卡展开攻势结果全军覆没，最后朗用狂野的风度征服了冰美人，维罗妮卡与朗的期望不同，这个有强烈事业心的女人开始在工作中崭露头角并挑战朗的地位，一次车祸后，朗的生活迅速变得混乱起来……
