The story revolves around Youssef Salem, a novelist of Maghrebi origin who enjoys sudden, meteoric success following the publication of his book based on his family. But this success comes at a price… Whilst the right-thinking, Parisian literary circuit labels him a model of integration, others see him as a traitor. Transformed, in spite of himself, into the spokesperson for a cause which isn’t actually his, Youssef does everything he can to escape the pigeon-holes which others try to force him into…
