The first series of Coast rekindled the nation's love affair with our spectacular and often forgotten coastal heritage.
Now, the BAFTA award-winning programme is back to explore new secrets and stories that add to the unique picture that is being created of that British coastline.
Coast celebrates that unique character of the British Isles, featuring stories about the people., wildlife and events that make up our coastal communities.
Our guide Neil Oliver takes over from Nicholas Crane this series, and guides us along this journey of beautiful scenery and remarkable discoveries.
The coast team of expert all return for the new series and through a mixture of expert comment, compelling storytelling and computer-generated images, Coast reveals a wealth of fascinating stories illustrating life as it is today and as it was in the past.

Dover to Isle of White
  
The beautiful cliffs of Dover are a breathtaking sight. On this stretch of the coastline chalk has not only defined and shaped the landscape but has also been the starting point of many innovators and their pioneering work.


Holyhead to Liverpool
  
The rugged and beautiful coastline along this stretch has many magical and mysterious places to discover, some have intrigued people for centuries. But this coastline has also seen many tragedies which have led to remarkable inventions and innovations that affect our lives today.

Sweeping landscapes and jagged mountains make up the rugged magnificence of Scotland's Deep South. But this beautiful tranquil setting conceals an explosive and sometimes secret past.


Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
  
Cornwall is England's most coastal county. Often viewed as isolated and remote, its golden beaches have made it a perfect holiday destination. But besides this county's dramatic good looks, it has been home the birth place of global communications and new technologies of their time.


Dublin to Derry
  
This captivating and ancient coastline is a magical place. Besides its charm and warm hospitality, it has much more to offer. This remarkable stretch of coast has three great Cities that have been shaped over the centuries by the sea. This idyllic setting of rugged coast and secluded beaches has drawn, influenced and inspired many people and still does today.

This stretch of coast lies between two great rivers - The Tyne and The Humber. The industrial past of the area is clear for all to see. However, what isn't obvious to the naked eye is the religious thread that has created, inspired and shaped many of the people and areas along this coastline.

This rugged remote coast is a wonderland of stacks, secret inlets and wind swept secluded beaches. The dramatic coastline is rich with culture and traditions which are deeply rooted across the 120 islands that make up the Outer Hebrides.
