Max and his gang are dubious role models but without a doubt, they are celebrities of their generation having more than 300.000 active fans. Is Max a violence-glorifying influencer with far-right tendencies or a usual adolescent, just trying to find himself and happens to be born into a time where the lines between private life and public self-display are blurring? The King of Toys is a documentary about Max, a 20-year-old from Dresden in eastern Germany. He is a successful YouTuber with more than 300,000 subscribers and is famous for his noisy and fussy videos. In the footage, he was seen drinking and making noise in public, making noises, and bullying the weak. At the same time, he has close ties with Germany's far-right neo-Nazi forces and the so-called "identity movement". Nazi symbols and extremist terms often appear in videos. Does he really share this political view? Or is this just a young man's game, all just for fun? The director and cinematographer of "King of Toys" spent a summer with Max and his small group, capturing many disturbing scenes.
