加拿大鬼才導演布魯斯麥克唐納，收起《迷走青春》的恣意狂放，以迷人的黑白攝影、豐富流暢的音樂、純真自然的人物塑造，重現那個美好年代的自由不羈，讓觀眾跟著收音機廣播裡一首首復古金曲，一同搖擺上路。1976 年恰好是美國建國兩百周年，電視機中的節慶聲響，與寧靜的公路遠景相輝映，將七○年代末期集體失落的時代精神，完美浸潤於影片絕色海岸風景中。
