剧情梗概：
四、五十年代，年青的温月庭(陶大宇饰)到星马谋生，与好友仇文杰(方中信饰)和贺志祥(黎耀祥饰)合作做生意，可惜被人骗财弄至血本无归，三人逐决意到香港发展电影事业。庭认识生命中第一个女人-黄盈(张慧仪饰)。庭对盈一见锺情，可惜盈早已为人妻，但两人两情相悦，故决定私奔往香港。凭著三人的魄力及头脑，令到温氏发展迅速，影片卖过满堂红，制造出一个个出色的明星与导演。温氏电影王国以渐见规模，温氏旗下的红星得罪了探长颜坤，庭向坤的乾女儿雷梦华(刘嘉玲饰)求救，相见後才知原来庭、华两人早已相识，华早在多年前对庭有好感，决定全力帮助庭解决困难。可惜华得悉庭已婚，只好将感情埋藏心底。窈窕淑女，君子好求，华竟吸引刚从外国学成归来庭的儿子温伟中(林伟饰)，华拒绝了中，中再度离港。华期後被庭罗致旗下，成为得力助手。庭的电影事业正如日中天之际，星马富商洛涛(龙方饰)成立帝国影业，与温氏抗衡。利字当头，杰在涛的利诱下，暗地与庭倒戈相向，在涛、杰的暗中作祟下，令庭之事业出现难关，此时，曾是温氏旗下而後转投帝国的红星童恩(周海媚饰)愿意出手相救庭，为庭而下嫁不爱的男人，痛苦终令童恩失去理智，走上自杀之路。杰更借意追求华，以图夺华芳心，藉此断庭一臂，当然，杰碰著对庭一往情深的华，只有弄得焦头烂额。杰转而矛头指向庭的妻子黄盈，并伪造遗嘱，吞夺温氏股份，同时亦制造冲突，让祥转投杰处。面对妻死、兄弟的离弃、事业的吞并，庭受到重重打击。庭遭受连番打击，感到意兴栏栅，无心恋栈，华毫无怨言的支持著庭。庭深明华的爱意，但逢盈之惨死，令庭一时间难以接受华。反而後来庭与女星洪红(邹静饰)、贺芝芝(缪非临饰)有过短暂而没有结果的情缘，令华一度心灰意冷。杰对庭锲而不舍的追击，更下毒手杀其儿子。庭不但痛失爱儿，更被传杀害亲儿，连华亦对庭加以误会，华想过放弃庭，然而见庭形势孤立，最终还是不忍心离去，但对庭的感情已极度保留。庭终於查出害死妻子的正是杰，庭立意全力反击杰，杰的拍档蔡志坚从中做梗，挑拨庭、杰，更杀害祥，让两人的冲突推至极点。其後庭、杰不约而同揭发坚的奸计，分别对坚作出反击，最後坚被自己的父亲所杀。没有坚在兴风作浪，影圈风云始渐平息。庭更计划建立另一个电视王国，再次对香港文化带来深远`的影响，亦有掀起其人生故事中的另一幕高潮……。
