《嗨起打他个鬼子》讲述的是1938年，国民党南京政府西迁重庆后，贵阳成为战略重地，日军为打通西南通道，派遣小分队到贵州腹地进行情报窃取工作，从而引发贵州少数民族英勇抗日的故事。剧情版本二：《嗨起，打他个鬼子》是一部少数民族抗战题材动作电影，该片将艺术地再现贵阳儿女在党的领导下，同仇敌忾、抗击侵略的壮丽篇章。同时以电影为载体，将贵阳的自然风光及人文风情展现给世界。该片把所有场景都放在贵阳拍摄，花溪青岩、镇山，开阳的南江大峡谷，以及阳明祠、甲秀楼、黔灵山等都作为主场景拍摄地。本片由市文广局下属的贵阳艾美华星文化传媒有限责任公司独家投资拍摄。由曾导演过《泰山功夫》、《神马都是浮云》、《飞扬的青春》等10余部影片的贵州籍新锐导演陶明喜执导，曾获台湾金马奖最佳摄影的著名台湾籍电影摄影师唐裕太担任摄影指导。演员有著名表演艺术家侯桐江、台湾偶像派演员袁奇峰，以及著名演员杨紫江、张馨心、崔煜林等。“我是从黔东南黄平县走出去的电影人，对家乡有深厚的感情，过去在家乡拍过10部贵州题材的故事片。我觉得家乡的民族文化资源非常丰富，但挖掘得还不够。另外，作为一位武术指导出身的导演，我一直想拍一部动作片，此次执导这部影片算是了了我的一个夙愿。我希望这部影片具有更多的故事性和地域特色，表现鲜活生动的‘小人物’形象，这将是一部具有贵州布依风情的轻喜剧动作片。”导演陶明喜说。
