故事描述纽约城最优秀的法医、病理学专家HenryMorgan（IoanGruffudd）的传奇经历人们都称赞他是个了不起的人才，但是没有人知道他的身世秘密。他经历过世间的一切战争、爱情，甚至天花和疟疾但惟独没有经历过真正的死亡。已经活了200岁的他在公立法医研究所工作，试图通过研究死人来找出自己永生的秘密。务实而顽强的纽约警察局女侦探JoMartinez（AlanadelaGarza）既是他的工作搭档，又是唯一能给他的生活带来一抹亮色的人。在Jo的帮助下，观众将通过一个个案件了解Henry漫长的、充满传奇色彩的人生故事。剧集评价：媲美都教授，都是不死星人看过《来自星星的你》的观众，很容易觉得《不死法医》似曾相似：都教授来自外太空，看尽大韩民国400年风云变幻；原本只是随船医生的亨利摩根因保护黑奴而被枪杀，反倒因此获得不死之身，和纽约城共同成长度过了200年岁月。若要追究两人不同之处，大概是都教授有超能力，摩根没有；而摩根各种活够了，播出才8集，他主观故意和被动杀害死了十几次。亨利情感之路更像凡人，刚复活时忍不住向爱人袒露秘密，却被当成男神经送去了疯人院。他直至二战期间遇上真爱，但也开启了另一个悲伤的故事。值得欣慰的是，和叫兽一样，亨利对一名小孩有救命之恩，两人相扶持走过70年，温情满满。媲美福尔摩斯，都是英国来的破案高手最开始，好几桩案子都是因为亨利对被害者尸体仔细研究找到突破口。之后，这位不死的法医彻底放弃掩饰自己有夏洛克福尔摩斯的探案天赋，亿万富豪之子被杀一案，在现场的法医更像是侦探，一眼洞穿死者是被钝器重击而死。到底亨利和夏洛克有多像呢？他的身上不少夏洛克的特征：英国背景，迷人的口音，不热衷人际交往，探案过程里专业术语层出不穷、异于旁人的洞擦力，以及深不可测的知识量，都让一旁的警察显得很不中用。整个看起来，亨利就是夏洛克福尔摩斯与华生的集合体：一个有着破案才能的熟手医生（网易新闻评）。
