剧情梗概：地球防卫军是一部剧情,动作,科幻,惊悚,战争片，富士山下的小村庄正在进行热闹的祭典，突如其来的山火却让人们陷入恐慌之中，而天文学家白石良一（平田昭彦 饰）则在混乱中失踪。不久，当地发生滑坡、天坑等离奇事件，更有一个巨大、恐怖的机器人出现，对周遭城镇进行大肆破坏。白石的朋友渥美让治（佐原健二 饰）和安达谦治郎博士（志村喬 饰）随同军队前往当地调查，意外遭遇外星人的球形基地，并受到对方的邀请。外星人声称很久以前他们的星球因核战而毁灭，幸存者在宇宙间流浪寻找合适的栖息地。他们希望地球人开辟半径为3公里的土地给外星人居住，并准许他们和地球的女性通婚。人类对此表示拒绝，并组成地球防卫军和星外来客展开对抗……                                                                    　　本片为东宝首部采用宽银幕的特摄作品。Aliens arrive on Earth and ask permission to be given a certain tract of land for their people to live on.
