Titanic Collection

General Information:
History, Technology Documentary hosted by John Benjamin Hickey and Ashton Smith, published by National Geographic in 2012- English narration

Information
Commemorate a century of Titanic with this triple release from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.
It was mankind's largest and most magnificent machine - the Titanic, the gigantic ship that was supposed to transport people from Europe to the United States. Filled with dreams of the future and a strong belief that man could invent himself out of anything. Titanic was the ship that could not sink. Until the fateful night of April 15, 1912, when it hit an iceberg on its maiden voyage and sank - leaving 1,495 people in the cold grave of the sea.
On a mission funded by National Geographic, explorer-in-residence Dr. Robert Ballard researches the famed "unsinkable" Titanic. He reveals details of its discovery and provides answers to some its greatest mysteries in "Secrets of the Titanic" and "Titanic's Nuclear Secret".
This collector's set contains three fascinating documentaries and a short special featurette about the Titanic, the disaster and the amazing underwater operation that found the wreck at a depth of 3810 meters 73 years after the dramatic event.

Secrets of the Titanic

Join one of the century's most celebrated underwater expeditions with famed oceanographer and explorer Dr. Robert Ballard on his search for the sunken luxury liner R.M.S. Titanic. Armed with sophisticated equipment such as the submersible deep sea craft Alvin and a myriad of remote video cameras, Dr. Ballard and his crew became the first humans to see and photograph the luxury liner since its sinking in 1912.
This National Geographic exclusive highlights the century's most celebrated underwater expedition. Armed with sophisticated equipment, including the submersible deep-sea-craft "Alvin" and a myriad of remote video cameras, Dr. Ballard and his team became the first humans to see and photograph the Titanic since its sinking more than 70 years ago. Now the breathtaking footage of this exploration, as well as the intriguing story of the ship's discovery, is presented in its entirety.
Produced by National Geographic Television, 1987

The Final Secret

The sinking of the RMS Titanic remains one of the most unexpected and mysterious tragedies of man verses nature in living memory. As we mark the 100th Anniversary on April 15th, this documentary will finally reveal and explain the astonishing missing pieces in our knowledge of the infamous sinking and ensuing loss of life. For those who thought they knew what happened, this film will prove that there is more to the story than the last hundred years has suggested.
In 1985, National Geographic Explorer in Residence Dr. Robert Ballard solved one of the greatest nautical mysteries of the 20th century when, while on a top secret naval assignment, he found the final resting place of the RMS Titanic. Now join the legendary explorer as he reveals the details behind this story of stealth, subs and superpowers as if taken from the pages of a Cold War spy thriller. Learn how Ballard's search for Titanic became the cover story to ward off Soviet suspicions, and dive to the ocean floor to explore the covert expeditions that gave Ballard the cutting-edge forensic evidence that would lead him straight to Titanic within a matter of days.
Produced by National Geographic Television, 2008

Seconds from Disaster: Titanic

On 14 April, 1912 at 11:40 PM, the Titanic grazes an iceberg, which causes the ship to sink, taking with it the lives of more than 1,500 people. Officials have struggled for decades to sift through the theories and conspiracy speculations to figure out what sank the massive ship. Using a groundbreaking experiment that mimics the conditions of the Titanic as it scraped the iceberg, experts find new evidence that enables them to finally conclude what brought the “unsinkable” ship down in the middle of the icy Atlantic. Titanic includes haunting commentary of eye-witness accounts, CGI and cutting-edge experiments that help bring the Titanic back to life to retrace its final moments.
For a hundred years many have been perplexed by the details of what actually made the Titanic sink. Using a groundbreaking experiment that mimics the conditions of the Titanic as it scraped the iceberg, experts find new evidence that enables them to finally conclude what brought the "unsinkable" ship down in the middle of the icy Atlantic. Seconds from Disaster: Titanic includes haunting commentary of eye-witness accounts, CGI and cutting-edge experiments that help bring the Titanic back to life to retrace its final moments.
Produced by Darlow-Snithson Productions, 2006

Last Hours of the Titanic

From the moment the iceberg was spotted, at 11:40 P.M. on April 14, 1912, the Titanic's fate was sealed. Its 2,200 passengers and crew, in the course of two momentous hours, would meet their destiny in the icy, black waters of the North Atlantic.
After years of painstaking research, Dr. Robert Ballard finally located the ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic, nearly two-and-one-half miles down the icy Atlantic. Here in this short documentary he covers Titanic's dramatic end and enduring legend, slow sinking into the ocean taking over three hours on a clear night and the people onboard who really made the story.
